-
Chile- Country Study
Introductory series of
(sometimes very concise) articles, from a wide range of (some of it
Chilean) sources. US Library of Congress. Good place to start for an
overview in English. Links to key sections:
World Statesmen:
Chile Useful reference lists of
presidents, flags, governments of Chile
BBC
News timeline
Pepe's Chile:
History of flag, anthem, seal. Instructive, well laid out.
Icarito A Chilean educational site.
These are the links to history sites for schools. Good
subdivisions to individuals and events less well known outside Chile. Worthwhile
drilling down into the main part of the site for detailed past election results
and graphics.
In Spanish, but simpler Spanish for schools makes for clearer Google
translations....
Military history
Armada de Chile This is the official navy site
of Chile. Much easier to use than the Army site. main focus is on the
19th century. In Spanish.
El ejercito de Chile The official site of the Chilean army. Not very clear to navigate, and
wait for pages to load.....
For current developments to the national
history themes:
- Yahoo Chile news
excellent resource for current news items (in English) on Chile
- Lanic Newsroom:
Texas Univ site for links to the recent news themes on Latin America in
general
